Swallows Flying Amongst Bamboo Zisha Teapot

This outstanding Zisha pot was hand crafted by Cai Cibing. He is a famous potter and his teapots are made from very high quality Zisha clay. This teapot has a very traditional shape which was beautifully carved. On the front is has a carving of swallows flitting around bamboo. On the back is calligraphy beautifully executed in a cursive style. The maker is famed for both his teapot making and his wonderful carvings that decorate them. The Swallow and bamboo have a very symbolic meaning in Chinese culture. The bamboo is known for being extremely strong, yet resiliant. It is a quality that many strive for and because of this bamboo is a popular subject for art and can be seen in all traditional Chinese gardens. The swallow is a bird that is loved by the Chinese. It is said that if a swallow builds a nest in your house, that you will have many offspring.
