White Porcelain Rice Glaze Teacup
These beautiful little porcelain Teacups were hand crafted in Jingdezhen, China's premiere porcelain manufacturing area. They feature, what is known in Chinese as Rice Glaze. After each newly formed cup is dried, small rice shaped holes are cut out of it. Then the cup is glazed. The glaze fills in the holes and leaves a translucent hole in the cup. This is an ancient technique and is quite lovely. If you hold a lite under the cup, the flowers made by the holes light up (look at our photo below). These cups are perfect Chinese Gongfu Tea.
